About Me

2 min read

Hi there!

Can I start off by saying how awesome it is to have you here, reading this? That means a lot! My name is Field, and I’m the author of DigestYourFinances. I’m a software engineer by day, an avid investor by night, and write on the weekends. I also probably spend too much time indoors, so there’s that 🙂

I absolutely love writing. From the tender age of 12, I distinctly remember writing short stories for my parents to read just for fun. Making little novels. Man, what a simpler time.

I’m married to my wonderful wife, Jordyn, who supports me in all my endeavors. Can I just say, taking the path to financial independence is a much smoother road when you have a supportive partner. Remember that!

That’s me on the left with my wife

A little about my own finances, here are a few bullet points:

  • My day job is as a Software Engineer
  • I have bought two income-generating rental properties
  • Consistently investing in my 401k and IRA accounts
  • Consistently Invest in the Stock Market using Robinhood
  • Founder and writer of DigestYourFinances.com
  • Write mobile apps for iPhones and also write apps for Clover.com
  • Founded SAAS Websites: linksr.me, apistacks.com, hushanalytics.com, uptimecron.com
  • I have $0 in credit card debt, $0 in personal loans, and $0 in auto loans
    • I do have mortgage debt from my personal residence and rental properties, but they all cost me $0 since tenants cover those payments

Quite a few things on my plate, but definitely enjoy doing and keeping up with every single one of them 🙂

Now that I’ve introduced myself, the question you’re probably wondering is what’s this blog all about? Well, this blog isn’t about me. It’s about you, your financial well-being, and getting you to financial freedom!

Having a unique perspective

Yup, that’s a real lion! Went on a safari in my home country of Zimbabwe

I was born and raised in Zimbabwe from a poor family that shared half a house with other renters in a town called Glen View. I saw first hand my parents working hard enough to leave poverty and eventually own homes, businesses, and achieve wealth before my very eyes! I had first-hand experience with what working hard can do.

I then came to the United States for college at the age of 18 with nothing but two bags, a backpack, my first ever laptop (for college), and dreams. I had never been on an airplane before then! Crazy right? I know!

I got to witness how one of the wealthiest countries in the world lived. I was blessed to have seen and experienced both extremes, of poverty and relative wealth. I have managed to work hard enough to have a six-figure net worth and a very decent income. Busy schedule, but the thrill of it all keeps me going!

This blog has become the primary way I can share my thoughts, experiences, and provide a unique perspective to working towards financial freedom. I just love talking about this stuff, can you tell yet? 🙂

Who is this blog for?

The most amazing thing about financial literacy and seeking financial freedom is that it applies to every single person reading this!

Think about it. We are all in a society where money dictates what we do every day, what education we get, why most go to work, and why most can’t retire because of mounting debt! Believe me, I’ve seen it all first hand. It doesn’t matter if you live in America or even Africa, this blog is meant for you!

While I don’t consider myself an expert on personal finance, I come from a solid background of entrepreneurs and have become one myself. I too am on that journey and it was only a matter of time until I had to share my knowledge. Now here we are!

Will these articles help me?

Short answer? I have no doubt that they will!

I’ve seen so many people struggling financially, from being extremely poor to people earning 200k a year, living paycheck to paycheck. I’ve also seen success and spoken to people who were multi-millionaires.

This blog has become a way for me to share my thoughts, experiences, and research, so you don’t have to. Got a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

So do I believe what I write can help everyone who reads it? Absolutely! But you also have to play your part and take these words into action!

I hope you enjoy reading these posts! Feel free to contact me if you have any thoughts, questions, or suggestions!
